JILL ALLISON
Jill Allison (EAMP-East Asian Medical Practitioner) attended Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine where she received her Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2003. She is accredited by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and is a licensed East Asian Medical Practitioner in Washington State. Her education included the study of acupuncture and Chinese herbs. Additionally, Jill has studied western herbs and has been trained in wild crafting by studying with local herbalists in the Northwest. She has studied acupuncture at a clinic in Taiwan and practiced acupuncture in the Himalaya mountains treating Buddhist monks and nuns in Nepal.
For thirty five years Jill has been a practicing medical technologist. Most of her career in this field has been in non-profit community clinics. While working at Country Doctor Community Clinic in Seattle, Jill received her degree in acupuncture. Subsequently she ran a community acupuncture clinic at Country Doctor for nine years as well as working as a medical technologist in their laboratory. In the acupuncture clinic she treated a variety of complaints specializing in depression, diabetes/weight loss, migraine headaches, women’s health/fertility, and musculo-skeletal disorders. Jill’s training as a medical technologist provides an excellent basis in diagnosis and allows her to understand both western and eastern medicine.
Jill feels that nurturing the spiritual, emotional and physical aspects of our beings is central to health. Nutrition has long been a personal interest of hers. She has formally studied nutrition at Bastyr Naturopathic University and continues to study diet therapy on her own. She is available to her patients to aid in their understanding of nutrition and their health. Being part of community is a core value for Jill. She has been on the board for Alternative Healthcare Access Campaign and Seattle Acupuncturists for Veterans and performed volunteer acupuncture for the homeless through these organizations.
Jill believes that healing is a personal journey for everyone. She believes that we all can learn from each other and that our greatest resource is truly listening to ourselves and being part of our own healing. She feels it is important to meet people where they are at and help them to find their road to health.
